Ingredients

  1. Onion – 2

  2. Tomato – 1

  3. Ginger- 1 tbsp crushed

  4. Garlic- 6 pods

  5. Green chilli – 2

  6. Malabar Tamarind- 2 small pc

  7. Coconut slices- 3 tablespoon

  8. Turmeric powder -3/4 tablespoon

  9. Pepper powder- 1/4 teaspoon

  10. Kashmiri chilli powder- 1 teaspoon

  11. Salt – as per required

Method of preparation


1) Cooking prawns :


  1. Take cleaned prawns in a bowl

  2. Add crushed ginger, coconut slices, half of one sliced onion, Malabar tamarind to it

  3. Add half a teaspoon each of salt and turmeric powder

  4. Add 1 cup of water and allow the prawns to boil for 8 minutes

  5. After the prawns is cooked keep it aside


2) Preparation of masala :


  1. Take a pan and add 2 tablespoon of coconut oil

  2. Add the remaining 1.5 sliced onion to it

  3. Add green chilli and garlic pods

  4. Add 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1/4 teaspoon of pepper powder,1 teaspoon of Kashmiri chilli powder and sauté properly

  5. Add Tomatoes after the raw smell of the powders are gone

  6. Then add our cooked prawns to the prepared masala

  7. Add curry leaves and cook for 3 minutes, add salt if needed

  8. Our Prawns with coconut or prawns thengakoth ularth is ready to be served.
