In this dish, tender pieces of chicken are marinated in a savory sauce, stir-fried with vegetables, and served over a bed of steamed rice or noodles.

To make Tai Pai Chicken, start by marinating the chicken. You can use boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs for this dish. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and place them in a bowl. For the marinade, combine ginger garlic paste, egg, soy sauce, pepper powder, all purpose flour, corn flour and salt. Mix well and pour the marinade over the chicken. Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 30 minutes, or you can marinate it overnight in the refrigerator for more intense flavor. Once the chicken is marinated, it’s time to cook. Heat a kadai or a large skillet over high heat and add some cooking oil. When the oil is hot, add the marinated chicken and stir-fry it until it is cooked through and slightly browned. Remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.

Next, add some chopped vegetables to the pan. Traditional Tai Pai Chicken typically includes colorful vegetables such as bell peppers, carrots, onions, and snap peas. Stir-fry the vegetables until they are crisp-tender, maintaining their vibrant colors and retaining a bit of crunch. Then add thai red curry paste and tamarind pulp along with red chilli sauce and tomato sauce. Thai red curry paste are readily available in shops and online platforms.

Now it’s time to bring all the flavors together. Return the cooked chicken to the pan with the vegetables and stir everything together. At this point, you can adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences. You can add a bit more pepper powder or tomato sauce if desired. Once everything is well combined, remove the pan from the heat and serve Tai Pai Chicken over steamed rice or noodles. Garnish it with some chopped green onions or cilantro for added freshness and flavor. The result is a delicious and satisfying meal that your family will love.

Tai Pai Chicken is a versatile dish, and you can customize it based on your preferences. If you like some heat, you can add more dashes of chili sauce or crushed red pepper flakes. You can also experiment with different vegetables and add your own twist to the recipe.
